Jubilee and the 2008 Banking Crisis, Part 2

Banking Crisis part 2 “What do we do?”

A continuation of Jubilee and the 2008 Banking Crisis

As we continue to live through this economic crisis many ask or at least think, “what can I do about it anyway?” Do not be fooled by preachers who cry the “Lord is coming”, then everything will be all better! Do not be content to be the church of Laodicea; complacent thinking these things must happen to user in the second coming of Messiah! While it may be true that the Lord return is imminent; then again it may not.

Mt. Rainier from the daffodil fields of the Puyallup River Valley

We too believe that the Lord is returning soon, however, what if we are wrong? As my grandmother said “there is always been someone crying doom and destruction”! They cry, “Jesus is Coming” or “Mt Rainier is going to erupt”. Don’t plan your life around these people being correct. Do not stop working; or investing for the future. Do Not neglect “the great commission” to “go into all the world and preach the gospel”. We must continue to live each day of our lives living out our faith. However, do not make your home in that Puyallup valley; it is a flood plain and someday that mountain will erupt; that is just plain, good old fashion common sense; not spiritual insight.

Part of “living out our faith” is taking part in the governing of our country. As long as we have the freedoms afforded us by our constitution we should continue to fight the good battle at the poles and in our communities. We need to take hold of our futures. We need to fix this mess that the people we elected created. Stop pointing fingers. It is our fault. We elected them.

We do not know the future so it is hard to see the way out. We will not find the answers until like Daniel we turn to God for the answers. The prophet Daniel could not figure out the exact meaning of Jeremiah’s prophecy;“This whole land shall become a ruin and a waste, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.” Jer. 25:11 So he prayed an intercessory prayer of repentance for all his people.

Then, and only then, was he given one of the greatest prophecies ever! He was told the timing of the coming of Messiah. [see commentary on Dan 9.] We are standing at a similar point in our history and the prophecies of The Revelation. The Times of the Gentiles is running out. What comes next?

It is time for Us to own up to our sins:

Tea parties, coffee clutches, tax revolts, are not going to save us.

It is not the rich man’s fault.

It is not the welfare queen’s fault.

We have done this to ourselves. [see our 2008 banking crisis]

Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.” Psa. 62:10

We have allowed unrighteous men to rule us. We have allowed them in our schools, pulpits and courthouses. We have over spent, over taxed, and we have not kept our word. The day of reckoning is here.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2Chr. 7:14

We will not be able to see whom to vote into government until we clean up our own personal lives. The only way out is to repent and go the other way. Seek the direction of the LORD!

There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death” Prov. 14:12.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Prov. 3:5

The leaders of our churches are every bit as much to blame as the politicians. They are more interested in the business of the church than providing sound teachings to their flock. Complacency in the church equates to money in the till.

“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own liking,” 2 Tim. 4:3

“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?” Luke 6:46

The general populous has no interest in God; therefore, it is up to the true believers to repent on their own. Just like Daniel did. We need a Revival. We need the Spirit to move before it is too late. The King is coming but He will not be a lamb this time. He comes to rule with a “rod of iron”.

As you read the following insert your nation and nationality in the place of Jerusalem.

Daniel’s Prayer of Repentance:

“Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by prayer and supplications with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the LORD my God and made confession, saying,  “O Lord, the great and terrible God, who keepest covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from thy commandments and ordinances; we have not listened to thy servants the prophets, who spoke in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

“To thee, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us confusion of face, as at this day, to the men of [Judah], to the inhabitants of [ Jerusalem], and to all [Israel], those that are near and those that are far away, in all the lands to which thou hast driven them, because of the treachery which they have committed against thee.

“To us, O Lord, belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness; because we have rebelled against him, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God by following his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.

“All [Israel] has transgressed thy law and turned aside, refusing to obey thy voice. And the curse and oath which are written in the law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out upon us, because we have sinned against him. He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against our rulers who ruled us, by bringing upon us a great calamity; for under the whole heaven there has not been done the like of what has been done against [Jerusalem]. As it is written in the law of Moses, all this calamity has come upon us, yet we have not entreated the favor of the LORD our God, turning from our iniquities and giving heed to thy truth.

“ Therefore the LORD has kept ready the calamity and has brought it upon us; for the LORD our God is righteous in all the works which he has done, and we have not obeyed his voice.

And now, O Lord our God, who didst bring thy people out of the land of [Egypt] with a mighty hand, and hast made thee a name, as at this day, we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

O Lord, according to all thy righteous acts, let thy anger and thy wrath turn away from thy city [Jerusalem], thy holy hill; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, [Jerusalem] and thy people have become a byword among all who are round about us.

“Now therefore, O our God, hearken to the prayer of thy servant and to his supplications, and for thy own sake, O Lord, cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary, which is desolate. O my God, incline thy ear and hear; open thy eyes and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name; for we do not present our supplications before thee on the ground of our righteousness, but on the ground of thy great mercy. O LORD, hear; O LORD, forgive; O LORD, give heed and act; delay not, for thy own sake, O my God, because thy city and thy people are called by thy name.” Dam 9:3-19
